So You Think You Can Swim

Me too! I have been to the beach many times and jumped and played in the waves. I have also swallowed a lot of salt water- more in that later. Back to the waves, I have felt them push and pull me and every now and then I had to paddle my way out. But I wouldn’t consider it serious swimming. Where mom and dad are from they talk about lakes and rivers without waves. They say dogs have to swim around in really deep water. Since I am not headed back to Texas anytime soon they found a place I could swim- really swim.

It all started with a tennis ball. We were at the beach, nothing new. Then dad takes my ball and throws it so far away. I was like Daaaaaad, why did you do that?! Mom hasn’t even taken off my leash! So mom unhooks me hurriedly and off I go. Dad is running with me too. First I am in the sand, hot hot hot sand, then I am in shallow water, and then next thing I know- I AM SWIMMING. WHAT? Yes that’s right, apparently I can swim in deep water too! I haven’t done it before but for the sake of the tennis ball I guess my natural instincts just kicked in! Mom described it later as this, ” First you were jumping and jumping till you couldn’t jump, so then you started doggy paddling to keep half your body out of water to see the tennis ball. Then you got to the tennis ball and it looked like you were bobbing for apples! HA! But then you got the tennis ball, albeit a lot of salt water, and then you did something incredible. You let yourself stay completely underwater other than your head and your feet and arms were swimming you back to shore. No splashes just a smooth glide like swimming style.”

I like to call that lil trick, the Doggie Butterfly Style. Here are some pictures and video of my fun!!

P.S. I learned as fun as it is to drink salt water now, my stomach did not make it fun later. I will stick to the water mom gives me next time.

Best Day Ever: Woofstock, the dog park, and Firehouse Brewery

This day started just like any other day. I woke up, went for a walk, and had some breakfast. Then Mom put this silly shirt on me and I knew I was in for some fun! Last time I wore a tshirt it was for St.Patricks day and that was really fun! Anyhow we got in the car and off we went to…

Woofstock! There were so many dogs there of all shapes and sizes! There were a lot of people there giving away free treats and fun toys! I had to stay on my leash though but I did get to do an obstacle course with Mom and Dad! I also go a new leash that rocks! All in all Woofstock was fun and we brought home a backpack full of freebies. After we were done though Mom and Dad could tell I had a lot of energy still so they took me to the park.

Grape Street was kinda of empty in the middle of the day on Saturday- but it was a beautiful day. I did find some dog to play with…

After all of this fun Mom and Dad decided we all needed to relax so we headed over to Firehouse Brewery- which I had never been to before. I laid in the shade while Mom and Dad sat there and talked. There were some other dogs there too I got to meet! After that we all decided it was time to go back home. What a day!!

Doodle Meetup in the OC

Mom and dad took me on a road trip up to the OC. We had lunch on a patio in Seal Beach, CA. Then we headed over to meet a ton of new doodles! There were labradoodles and goldendoodles of all sizes and colors. My favorite was a small brown one that had a shorter hair cut but his legs looked like he was wearing bell bottoms! After a couple of hours of playing, we drove back down and met up with a few friends at Newport Pier. Here are some pictures from our trip!

It was an amazing day! I can’t wait to play with all my doodle friends again!!

Mom took me outside and everyone was wearing green! I gave her my really sad puppy eyes telling her I too wanted to be green. She dug through dad t shirts and found this one! I haven’t ever worn a shirt- Dad strictly forbids it- but he wasn’t home yet so…Mom gave in! Here is my St. Patricks Day Photo-shoot! You can click the photos to get a closer look! Hi everyone!

Thanks for keeping up with me. Mom has entered me into the Cutest Doodle Contest on cutestdoodlecontest.com. There a some other cute dogs on there but I would love for you to vote for ME! If I win I get featured on the front page of their website next month!

Anyhow today was an exciting day! When Mom got home I watched her lug this huge heavy box that was almost as tall as her into our loft. She fumbled around with the box trying to get it open but finally gave up. I was still wondering what is in this huge box! Oh and also check out my new tall water and food bowl! New gift from mom and dad too- man they love me!

Then Dad got home and mom had him open it right away. They had to fiddle around with it but finally they got it all setup! It is a knew crate for me to sleep in during the day! It is so big! I can stand up all the way lay down long ways or short ways and have room to roll around! We are keeping the other crate as my mobile one because the new one is JUST that BIG!

Also this weekend I got to meet 4 other doodles! We were having so much fun Mom could barely get a picture of us but she snagged one that has a leg arm or head from everyone in the picture. Tucker was the biggest one, he is 90 pounds and taller than me- quite the feat.

Oh yea and by the way- I am 71 pounds now. Yep I went to a new vet downtown yesterday and that is what he said- I am one big healthy happy HUGE puppy!

Flashback: 3 months old

Being 3 months old is very funny place for a puppy. I was learning a lot but often forgot the things that were so important to mom and dad- like peeing outside. Luckily, I had tile floor , or so mom says, I loved it because it was a cold floor. Mom loved the floor because she could clean it easily.

Anyhow 3 months old was very memorable for me because this is when I first got to meet Mia. Mia was a Golden Retriver who was 6 months older than me. She was a hottie- my very first girlfriend! I knew she would let me pull on her ears and her fur anytime and I enjoyed this. Check out the video mom got of us playing!

Flashback: 2 months old

At this point I was still sleeping in my crate in mom and dad’s room. I wasn’t potty trained still but I was learning. Dad would come home and feed me lunch everyday and hang out. Mom would take me on walks when she got home from work because I couldn’t play with other dogs yet.

Farmer’s Market

Yesterday Mom and Dad took me to my very first Farmer’s Market. They wanted to work with me on a few things from school so they thought it would be a good place. There were so many other dogs there! And a lot of people stopped to say high to me. When we stopped to eat lunch at a table there was a cute little white poodle at the table next to me. We got along well although he wanted to lay in the sun and I wanted to lay in the shade.

My hair is getting really long and mom says it might be time for a haircut. We are still discussing this though because I love the attention my long hair gets me! I am definitely more handsome when I am a poof ball.

Flashback: Thanksgiving 2008

My first weekend at home was Thanksgiving 2008! It was wonderful being with my new family and big house! I slept most the way home from Campo, but the first night I started to miss my real mom and brother and sisters. My new mom slept on the floor with me next to my crate. She would talk to me when I started to cry so I could fall back asleep. After the first two nights I adjusted. What a weekend to come home on! Thanksgiving was so fun! Dad fried a turkey and he let me hang out with him outside while he did it. Mom was inside cooking and we hung out with her afterwards. Here are some pictures of my first weekend home which was also my first Thanksgiving!
